Bahrain

Welcome back! The first race of the season felt like a a continuation of the 2023 season with Max dominating the field, Charles’ inability to shed his bad luck streak and Lewis not bonding with his car (“I think my seat’s broken” Seriously?)

As with anything new, there seems to be a few kinks to work out. Pit crews remembering which tyres go with which, brakes working as they should, steering wheel monitors remaining right side up, etc.

Driver of the Day Carlos Sainz seems to be determined to stay focused despite the uncertainty of his future career. Do any of you have any predictions on where we might see him in 2025?

The new team names and some of the colors on the track are taking me a while to get used to. I think I like the subtle retro design changes to the Ferrari suits. And Valteri seems completely committed to his mullet evolving it to a brighter shade of blonde.

Back to another Saturday race next week as they travel to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. Due to the Muslim holiday of Ramadan on March 10 both the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian races are on Saturdays this year. F1 rules require at least one week between races, which is why Bahrain also moved the festivities up bye one day. The only other race this year that will be on a Saturday will be the Las Vegas Grand Prix which happens to occur on another important holiday, November 23. They claim it’s because the LVGP is late and would impact viewing for those in the UK, but we really know that it’s a special birthday gift for me.
